Roulette Series - Betting in Roulette and Payouts
As long as the roulette wheel and the ball are spinning, always in contrary directions, all the numbers and slots share the same probability to win.
There are of course some bets that have a higher probability to win, but pay less. The bets are divided in two major groups: the inside bets, and the outside bets.
The "inside" roulette bets are those placed on the numbered squares, and the "outside" are those located outside, and group many numbers.
The highest bets in the inside categories are the "Straight-up" and the "Spit".
The "Straight-up" bet is when a chip is placed inside one square, covering one number. This means, there are 31 to 1 odds against winning, but the payout is 35 to 1, and this include the "0" and double "00". The next highest, the "Split", occurs when the chip is placed on the line adjoining two squares, regardless of the numbers, for example, betting on 17 and 18 or 8 and 11 at the same time. This has a payout of 17 to one.
The highest payouts in this category are the "dozen" bets and the "column" bets, which encompass groups of 12 possible numbers with a little less than 33% of probability to win, the payout is 2 to 1.
The "outside bets" have a much smaller payout, but much more possibilities to win. With bets like "1 to 18", "19 to 36", "Red or Black", "Even or Odd" the payout will be 1 to 1, with an almost 50% chance to win.
Playing roulette can be very lucrative, time consuming, entertaining but also, can cost a lot of money. There are no special tricks, charms or techniques to win or lose; it is all a matter of luck and probability laws applied.
